But this post isnt about ME. Am I kidding everything in life is ABOUT ME. But no,this is a reflection on a radio discussion that got quite heated that I heard at the dark hour of 3am on my radio. One of the talkers declared “we need a new law to make it illegal to hate Jews”. Another of the group then stated there already was such a law and I believe that is true. Of course our Beloved Leader is now intending to introduce a whole stash of laws to make it illegal to hate Muslims. And I believe that is already illegal too. ILLEGAL in both cases in the narrow and easily defined sense that if you write something or say something publicly or even on your ‘private’ Facebook or Whatsapp that is egregiously OFFENSIVE you can be prosecuted. I once tried to report a Hate Crime because I was fed up with always being the hated on,but I was told that because I wasn't black/,brown skinned,gay or Muslim (ie of that religion) it didn't count. Seems you can only be legally hated in those categories. I was advised to make myself a nice cup of tea and watch Bargain Hunt! Good Advice actually!

Now the hatred that is upsetting everyone in all circumstances is the sort of hatred you can't legislate against. It's sidelong or disapproving or half amused superior looks,it's other people not engaging in conversation with you,it's people leaving the room or migrating to the other side. Jewish young people I'm hearing are now (this is both in UK and USA) finding it difficult to get places in shared homes,in flats for their university years,they are getting rejected for what they know are spurious reasons ( tell me about it) but they know it's due to the international situation. And that's tragic. It's almost as if Benjamin Netanyahu WANTS to boil up such hatred until HE or his faction can claim Jew Hate is so intense that he needs to bomb the whole world.

I've wondered what would happen if I walked down a main thoroughfare near me loudly shouting the “N-word”. No,I don't want to do that or intend to do that. Creepy-deepy will be getting over-excited. I suspect that everyone would ignore me,they would cast a glance in my direction,roll their eyes and get on with their lives. I'd just be a sad,mad old woman. It's not an experiment I intend to try or want to try and if I did and got punched in the face I would totally deserve it. It's all very well to claim in a court (if you can afford the lawyers,would you get Legal Aid for this? ),that the fact that all your work colleagues sit at a different table to you at lunchtime and never invite you to join them and if you make a remark never pick up on it and extend it into a conversation and if someone is distributing cheap items from …better not ask….you are never included in the offers….well you know it's “hatred” they know it's “hatred” I'll use that word, but can such EXCLUSION be grounds for a legal trial. Maybe we'll find out. There had been many other ludicrous tribunals in the past and dont Trans men claim Lesbians are guilty of HATRED for declining to have sex with them. You cannot legislate for peoples legitimate discrimination.
